Answer by Ted
Each credit bureau has its own formula and, since all creditors do not subscribe to all bureaus, each bureau has an unique collection of data as a start point. Then there is the case that each bureau has double formulas. Which formula is used when a creditor request seed in? It’s what the mortgagee wants. A score that predicts a commonweal recognition paper customer doesn’t necessarily predict a commonweal car loan customer or a good mortgage customer. That’s why there are multiple formulas around. And then some places, like American Express and the major retailer that I used to serve for equitable bargain the altogether data and use their own internal grading system.I knowing this isn’t the answer you wanted, but this really is the way t work. Sorry.

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) March 15, 2006

Surprisingly commonweal intelligence for consumer were announced by the tierce solon chewer recognition reportage bureaus. An unified VantageScore(SM) recognition mark is being introduced to replace the currently confusing yard of double recognition mark offered by the trinity competing recognition bureaus.

Currently, each recognition bureau uracil a proprietorship recognition grade to charge recognition merit of each chewer. Creditors employment recognition mark derived from recognition study to subsidy or deny recognition, including recognition card, loan and mortgage.

Different creditor utilisation recognition score from Equifax, Experian, TransUnion or FairIsaac. Fair Isaacs produce the try known recognition mark, known as the FICO™ recognition grade. Because of the difference in formula used by competing recognition bureau, the Lapp chewer tin have either commonweal or badness recognition grade depending on WHO does the marking. This variance in recognition mark-based recognition merit creates incubus for K of unlucky recognition quester WHO mark badly with single of the recognition bureaus scorn having a commonweal recognition history.

Credit-Score.org, the authoritative usher to chewer recognition grading, introduced an intelligence subdivision devoted to the new VantageScore (SM) recognition mark. It help consumer understand the Vantage Score (SM) recognition grade and to passage from the juice scheme.

“Introduction of a simplify and unified Vantage Score recognition score is a triumph for consumers and creditors alike, who until now had to grapple with confusing and often contradictory imputed grading algorithm,” said credit mark expert and editor of Credit Score Online Information Center, David Caro.

Under the new grading system, recognition hitting difference between recognition reporting company, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion will be attributed to data differences within each of the three chewer credit files. Credit tally will no longer vary due to the variation in the credit scoring algorithm framework since the same formula will be used by all credit bureau.

VantageScore will offer consumers and businesses a highly predictive, and uniformly reproducible credit hit that is easy to understand and apply. VantageScore uses score ranges from 501 to 990.

According to credit-score.org, a credit score of 501 is vis-a-vis to the low opening recognition score that signifies significant credit peril. A consumer with a lower recognition tallying is expected to have difficulty obtaining recognition and will wage higher interest rates.

A grade of 990 signifies excellent trustworthiness. A consumer with an excellent credit score is expected to benefit from the lowest opening interest rate and simpleness of obtaining credit from creditors.

VantageScore ascribed score is derived from chewer credit reports managed by Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. According to Steve Brown, a credit advisor from Denver, Colo., accuracy is a big problem when it ejaculate to recognition report. “The ‘big 3’ reporting office maintain files on roughly 90 percent of all American grownup,” say Brown.

“What’s scary are the estimation that roughly ogdoad in 10 study have serious error or other fault of some nature.” He carefulness that it is ultimately up to the chewer to brand certain the reportage authority return their info access.

Keeping an invariable ticker on your recognition study and your recognition grade tin be simplified with continuous credit monitoring services. HTTP://www.people-recognition-study.com is a chewer protagonism assets recognized for continuous observation of offering offer from the recognition bureaus. Consumers will discovery reassessment of people recognition study offering from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Free recognition mark and study offer are also reviewed and updated serial.

Tarron Acuff asked:

The three major credit bureaus are Equifax, Experian, and keep information on your credit history. If you don’t have any credit it should say is that the report does not exist because no credit has been established. If they do have credit established, it will tell you what is on your report. If you should ever see something on your report that looks like fraud, Contact the fraud departments of any one of the three major credit bureaus to place a fraud alert on your credit file.

You may request free credit reports once a year from all three major credit bureaus. Your credit score is a number given to you by the three major credit bureau agencies that reflects your credit profile. At first, it would seem as though your credit score would be the same at all three major credit bureau companies, but in fact all three scores can be different. Credit scores are improved by having the right type of credit, showing responsible use and not having too much credit.

Let’s say, find that some information in your credit report that is incorrect, you may to dispute that information to have it corrected. To file a dispute, you have to attach a copy of your credit report and mark the incorrect items. You most likely will have to prove that the information is false. You should mail the dispute letter as certified mail and always keep copies for yourself. Just like most data you need to have a backup in case you would need to prove what you had sent. Your letter should include your complete name and address, clearly identify each item you dispute, explain why you dispute the information, and request deletion or correction.

Nathaniel

Tim Bock asked:

Many times people are unaware of exactly what’s in their credit report, let along if there’s a collection account in there. There are usually 1 or 2 reasons why a collection account may exist.

- The account went to collections
- Mistaken identity

Fortunately it’s not the end of the world. There are steps that can be taken to get the collection off of your credit for good.

Get a copy of your credit report

There are 3 main credit bureaus where you can obtain a copy of your credit report. These are as follows:

- Equifax
- Transunion
- Experian

Dispute the findings

Each credit bureau operates separately. Therefore having the account deleted from one does not automatically mean it will disappear from all 3. Lenders do look at all three credit reports, so it’s extremely important to follow up with all of them. Not doing so will affect your ability in getting a loan.

Do it in writing

It’s important to mail your dispute in. Do not try to do it over the phone. Writing gives you documentation in case you need it. After they received the dispute, they will investigate the matter. If the investigation is not resolved within the allotted amount of time, the item will automatically be deleted from your credit report.

Fair credit reporting act

Become familiar with this law, before you contact the credit bureaus. It could save you a lot of time and trouble. It’s important to get the facts, so you have all the tools at your disposal when going up against the credit bureaus.

Tamara

Ed Nailor asked:

Did you know that your credit score can vary depending on who pulls your score and why? Imagine this…. You need a new car and are thinking of buying a home too. You do your homework and pull your score online directly from the credit bureaus. Your score online is 650. The car dealer tells you your score is 619 and your mortgage officer says your score is 694. Why the different scores? What causes such discrepancies?

Lets look at 3 items that can make your score vary.

1. Which credit bureau was the credit pulled from?

There are 3 major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and Transunion. Each bureau collects information as reported by your creditors. However, your creditors may not report to all 3 bureaus. This means that you may have different information in each bureau. Different information can make for different scoring outcomes.

2. There are differences in scoring models.

A scoring model is the formula used to create your score. Fair Isaac is the company that creates the models for the 3 bureaus. While there are 3 different bureaus, each bureau can have different models of scoring. Think in terms of computer programs… one program may go through updates and changes (version 3.0 and then 4.5.) Both versions work, but have different options based on the version. The same principal works here. The bureaus may be using different versions of scoring models depending on who pulls the credit.

3. What was the reason for the credit inquiry?

One more factor may be the reason your score was pulled. You see, buying a home should require different parameters that getting a credit card or buying a car. Each one of these will weigh different factors of your credit file more heavily. For example, a credit card company will want to factor revolving credit more heavily that a car loan. This way they will have a better indicator of how you will handle the new revolving credit card they are considering giving you. So the reason for your credit inquiry (mortgage, loan, credit card, ect.) will impact what makes your score up. Note: Federal law now requires that all 3 bureaus make a free copy of your credit report available to everyone. Since there are no others reasons for the inquiry the score will be generic based on all your credit, not a score potential creditors will use in their decisions.

Does this all seem confusing? Well unfortunately it is. Federal law now requires that when a credit inquiry is performed, you have the right to know the score and the indicators that helped make up that score. With the new laws enacted Congress is trying to make things better. Still, the best way to overcome these discrepancies is to build a solid credit file!

Leo

Jeanette Joy Fisher asked:

It’s not well known, but if you have recently applied for mortgage credit, the information you shared was probably sold within twenty-four hours of your mortgage application. Credit reporting agencies commonly sell what they term “trigger lists” of folks who have recently contacted mortgage lenders for rates or loan preapproval and have given loan officers permission to check into their credit.

These leads are being bought by data marketing companies who then resell the information to lenders who are interested in trying to entice you to use their lending services. The information the data marketing companies provide is valuable, because it tells lenders everything about your creditworthiness before lenders pitch you their offers.

One such company is Mortgage Inquiry Data, which tells lenders that they can provide access to every potential borrower who applies for a mortgage loan within twenty-four hours of the original request, making them prime candidates for lending services in the immediate future. Another company, Intellidyn, offers what it calls IntelliAlert, which provides similar valuable information to prospective lenders.

The data is worth a great deal to lenders, and comes with a hefty price tag. For instance, Intellidyn charges $31,395/month for its “platinum” level information, for which Intellidyn promises to let lenders know about every mortgage inquiry or application in any designated area in the U.S.

Just what other sort of information is being sold?

Mortgage Inquiry Data also sells: credit scores open mortgage balances monthly payments loan-to-value rations revolving credit card balances personal credit information besides just marketing application information.

All this leads to ethics questions in the minds of many bankers, who generally have to pay to get the information, only to then see it sold to other lenders who may be in direct competition with them for home loans.

Of the three major credit reporting firms, Equifax and Experian have publicly confirmed that they sell trigger lists within twenty-four hours, but TransUnion has yet to comment. However, Equifax and Experian both state that such lists aren’t in violation of any laws. Instead, they view them as simply fresher versions of preapproved credit lists they have routinely sold to lenders for many years.

One of the most disturbing things about this process is that even if you don’t want your credit information shared, there’s currently no option available for refusing to allow it to be sold. However, consumer protection agencies in several states are looking into the practice, and you can personally express your disapproval by contacting the Federal Trade Commission.

Copyright

Tiffany Dow asked:

As the economy continues to go through major upheaval, banks are becoming increasingly reluctant to loan money – even to each other! The lending boom in which banks and lending institutions loaned money indiscriminately has led to a huge rise in home foreclosures, financial upheaval, and near disaster.

The $700 billion bailout has been turned down, and the everyday person is left to wonder, “What’s next?” It’s true – there may very well be a new bailout proposal that might pass in the future and it keeps happening – first the car industry, then the credit and banking industry. Expect more bailout proposals in the coming years.

And as with everything, this financial crisis will pass. But what is bound to linger is the fact that right now, and most likely in the future, it will be very difficult to get a loan for anything unless you have a good credit bureau report.

The days of securing a loan even with bad credit are over. If you want to finance a car, a home, a boat, a pool for the back yard or much of anything else, you must have good credit! So what do you do if your credit is less than stellar?

How are you ever going to be able to finance anything ever again? Your first step has got to be to repair your credit and make sure your credit bureau reports are correct. This might take a while to do, but if you get started now, you’ll be in good shape for future purchases on credit. Here are the credit bureau report repair tips you will need to use:

1.) Get a copy of each of your credit bureau reports from the three major credit bureaus – Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Without your credit reports, you can’t move forward with fixing your credit.

2.) Review each report thoroughly. If you see errors, make a note of them. If any reports are missing good credit information, make a note of those as well.

3.) At this point it will be handy to start a filing system, perhaps folders, for each creditor that you need to contact to either fix faulty information or to add favorable information to you credit reports. You can keep your notes, letters you write to creditors and reporting agencies and other important information organized this way.

4.) If there are errors or omissions in your credit bureau reports, write letters to both the reporting bureaus and the creditors involved and provide them with as much detailed information as possible. You will want to include copies of any supporting documents and you might even want to include a copy of the credit report with the item in question circled if you are requesting a correction in a reporting error.

5.) Once you’ve contacted your creditors and the bureaus in writing, get copies of your credit reports again (you should wait 30 to 60 days to give them time to correct their errors). If the corrections you’ve requested aren’t showing, write them again. It may be necessary to repeat this step a few times – the squeaky wheel will get greased most quickly.

6.) If you don’t get the changes you’ve requested, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission and make your case known to them. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, they can help you get results.

7.) Be sure that once you’ve fixed any errors or omissions, you keep monitoring your credit report on a regular basis and that you always manage your money wisely to keep your credit score top-notch.

Making certain that your credit report is accurately reporting your credit history is your first step to credit repair. By using these credit bureau report repair tips, you will be forming the foundation for rebuilding your credit.

Gary

Delia Galley asked:

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the Nationwide Consumer Reporting organizations (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian) to provide you with one free credit report every 12 months per your request. This means that you are entitled to three free credit reports per year, if you deem it necessary. You can stagger the requests or order all of them at the same time.

Each of the National Consumer Credit Reporting bureaus have a unique credit report format, but in essence they provide you with the same information. When you receive your free Equifax credit report use the following guidelines to read your report:

Personal Information

This section will detail your personal information: Name, Social Security Number (SSN), date of birth, any former names, death notice information, current address, previous addresses, any other identification numbers that you may have, current employer and previous employers.

You will also find information about any fraud alerts that you may have against your credit report.

Account Information Summary

You’ll find a list of all your accounts here. Additional information will include account type, account number, date account was opened, account balance, any past due amount, account status and credit limit.

Inquiries

Any inquiries against your credit file will be listed in this section. This section is divided into two subcategories: (a) Inquiries that display to companies and may impact your credit score. (b) Inquiries that do not display to companies and do not impact your credit score.

“Inquiries that display to companies and may impact your credit score”
These are inquiries by potential creditors who are assessing whether to extend you a line of credit or not. Your credit score will be minimally affected and therefore these inquiries should not be of major concern, unless there are some red flags. The name of the company that requested the information and the date they requested it will be listed.

“Inquiries that do not display to companies and do not impact your credit score”
Unlike the previous inquiries – these do not “hurt” your credit score. They include inquiries for pre-approved credit lines, insurance, or account reviews by existing creditors. The name of the company that requested the information, the date they requested it and the type of inquiry will be listed.

Collections

Any accounts that have gone to collections will be listed here along with the name of the creditor, date reported, creditor type, your account number, original amount, dates of delinquency, outstanding balance and status information.

Public Records

Bankruptcies, liens or judgments information from federal, state or county court records will be listed here. Each public record will indicate the type of record, case number, amount in default and any relevant information associated with that particular case.

You may also find the following credit report terms helpful:
CURR ACCT – Account is current in payments and in good standing.

CUR WAS 30-2 – Account is current was 30 days late twice.

PAID – Account has been paid off and has a $0 balance and is inactive.
